I am just curious to understand why anyone would support this person. This is not a bash thread or anything like it. I would like a real response and not just hate thrown back and forth.
Once again why would I support her ever when time and time again she has proved she is too inept for our country.

When Obama gives a speech without any notes or teleprompting, then you have a right to bash others.
Obama can't even give a speech to elementary school kids without a teleprompter and you guys get bent out of shape because she wrote a few words on a hand? This wreaks of legendary-grade double standard and you guys are too stupid to realize it.
She's one of the few politicians that has ever worked an honest, normal-American job and all you guys do is bash her. I sure hope you don't think the government isn't in touch with the average American because if you do and put even a shred of thought into it you'd realize that you are part of the cause of the disjunct.

I love how there is a blatant misspelling and a statement about other people's stupidity in the same sentence.

I do not consider myself a Palin supportner. Nor do I consider myself a Palin detractor. I find her interesting and worth watching. At this moment in time, she is the only conservative politician who is a genuine rock star. Add to this the fact that her autobiography sold more copies in a month than most politicians sell in a decade, and you have the makings of a bright future on the American political scene.
Perhapse more than anything, I find her detractors facsinatingly horrible; they're just so hateful. There has to be something more to it than just disagreeing with her policies. I believe it is actual hatred. She represents something to the far left that enrages them: she is a succesful, prominant, conservative woman. This equation confuses and frightens them. They come up with the craziest nonsense to take her on. I remember, back during the campaign, Alan Colmes questioned whether she took proper care of her baby while it was still in the womb. It's hard to get much lower than that.
Even her more moderate detractors scrape the bottom of the barrel. I rarely bring up Palin in conversation. Usually, somebody just wants to bash her, so they start the topic. Whenever the subject of Sarah Palin is raised, someone in the room always spouts some crap like "She's a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetard!" To that, my response is: "Do you have any valid criticisms to make, or are you just going to stick with the mindless personal attacks? What's that? Nothing else? Then you have nothing of value to add to the conversation. Stop talking." It seems to be common knowledge that McCain lost because of Palin. Never mind that, after he nominated her, his polls soared for several weeks. Never mind that McCain had great difficulty endearing himself to the conservative base of the Republican party and Palin actually started to repair that issue. No, she wrecked his campaign. This nonsense really gets on my nerves. Once, I told somebody that her autobiography was #1 on the Amazon Book List, to which he actually replied: "She just got all her crazy fans to buy it. It's not hard to be #1 on Amazon." You can't make this shit up.
What these people don't seem to understand, is that every time they detract from her, she winds up stronger than before.

i dont know what the big deal is about her having notes. Isn't that what you are suppose to have during a speech?
I'm not trying to "hate" on the woman, but just because she sold more copies of her autobiography than most politicians, makes the woman successful and interesting, but not necessarily intelligent. I'm not calling her stupid, I'm just saying.

By your logic then, being able to read speeches off a teleprompter does not make Obama intelligent. Nor does it make him a good leader.

On the subject of teleprompters: Big fucking deal. It's a valid public speaking instrament used by most newscasters and politicians. I don't havea problem with Obama using it; nor do I have a problem with Palin using it.
On the subject of intelligence: Give some credible reasons why Palin is unintelligent or GTFO.

She still supports abstinence only education after her teen daughter got knocked up.
She opposes stem cell research.
She dodges in debates like Neo dodges bullets.
However, I don't care if she used a prompter. Everyone does that.

Sex education classes that focus on encouraging children to remain abstinent can persuade a significant proportion to delay sexual activity, researchers reported Monday in a landmark study that could have major implications for U.S. efforts to protect young people against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Ok, if you guys haven't noticed we do not have many people who are in politics that aren't persuasive and greedy. You can't justify being friendly with any of these people. I mean they all speak with that tone to people as if they do not understand what is going on. They all remind me of teachers without a disruptive classroom. I am talking about proper, hard to understand, and rude teachers. I am trying to explain the stereotype. WCU doesn't have many professors like this and which is why we all love the university.
MRS. Palin has had her hands into a-lot and I am sure she is not 100% legit, but she is American and presentable. I voted for her because I can relate (more) to her than the other party.
Having that said. Who should we be looking at.
Well given the entire turn on the economy and the reasons that our current president was elected; we should have had a real hero run for the office. I don't think too many people would disagree with me. I would support Colin Powell; a real world hero with good foreign policy.
Change is coming for sure. HA! ~~ negative change is not the absence of change. At least he got something right.

Sarah Palin is not Bristol Palin. Just because her daughter screwed up, does nt mean Sarah Palin has to reverse her position. If she were to change a public policy because of a single example of teenage pregnancy, that wouldmake her look mighty weak.

"* Does not just talk "pro-life"; she lives it ( she knew her baby had downs"
This reason really makes me mad to no extent. You aren't a hero for keeping a child that has down syndrome. Yes that makes it harder but it's still your child and a human being. I am Pro-choice and find some of the reasons for her "pro-life advocates" not only distasteful but wrong. I know plenty of children with downs or autism and it never even remotely crossed the parents mind to abort because of this.
I semi-agree with Liquid about her daughter. If you only support abstinence only programs however can not educate your own offspring how to protect themselves how can you honestly say that is the most responsible way to educate children?
@ rob: That is a real study that actually shows productivity in the abstinence only department which is good. But what about the other % of students who are prego and have AIDS or other STDS?
I don't think I would buy her book. I could care less about her struggles as a politician as much as I wouldn't buy Obama's book or almost anyone else of political power...
This wasn't a thread in response to her using the prompter because I do believe that using notes is a valid way to show you prepared for presentations and would rather she have used one. I was thinking about why I didn't vote for her and the reasons behind it which is why I started the thread.
sorry for taking so long to respond... there was a lot to read too...
