Anonymous Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Action: Request a ChangeStatement: I think that its should be English only on the Voice Chat on the Counter Strike Source Server. Its annoying listening to someone ramble on in some other language.
Bitey Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 We cant limit the language people speak in our server, we are a server run by a university, the university does not limit the languages spoken here so we cannot do that either.
Phonetically Phamous (dice Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 its annoying, you can alsways mute in players list... i do however, the purpose of the server is to bring people on campus, their is a slim to none chance someone 3000miles away is going to come to western b/c of our server... thus a reason to look into not allowing it.
Nickname Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Its not like you can write a plugin to detect people speaking a different language... it is just something you are going to have to deal with.
pyro urban Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 this is more for the 1.6 server cause idk how the sauce one works: there is no way to enforce the speaking of only english as others said but could we maybe get a better muting system? like a plugin. cause the current one doesn't work well since you can still here the person when you are dead and there are a bunch of glitches with the mute system. like people not appearing on the list.
Pink Monkey #13 Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 this is absolutely terrible! what's wrong with someone else talking in their native language? how can you possibly expect this to be enforced either? wow guys, wow.
YahooEarth Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 I totally agree with anon. And my views on this are that if you are in America, you should be speaking English. If you are in France, you speak French, in Germany you speak German, ect... I don't care how ignorant this makes me sound, but where I live back home it is a huge issue with the astronomical increase of immigrants from Mexico...it gets very annoying when I can't go out to mexican restaurant for some food and order because the waiter cannot understand me. And then when a good portion of these people are illegal, oh em gee don't get me started on this topic... I am leaving...
pyro urban Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 yahoo so if there is a conference call with 2 french 3 portugese and 6 english. but the english are shy and only 2 are talking. and the server is based in new york, are you saying that the french and portuguese should be quiet cause the server is NOT based in their country? just leave em alone and let them talk to each other. it probably *edited* them off too when they can't understand what you say. do they have the right to ask you to be gagged since your voice annoys them???
Liam Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Thats really enough. We can't restrict that kind of thing no matter how annoying it is. Block them client-side if you dont' want to hear it.
