Okay! So now that I've slacked for a while and thoroughly enjoyed my vacation, I am back.

 

So I know there are a few things I need to fix. Here are the things I'm going to be working on.

Team Balancer - In Progress

Rock The Vote

Admin Map Voting

Warmup Betting Issue

Team Balancer Overview:

 

Here are my thoughts on the balancer and how I feel it should work.

 

Having tried the individual player KDR, I am going to adopt the idea someone else had which is:

 

1. Keep the teams balanced via Average KDR. This means adding up everyone's kills divided by their deaths.

2. Pick the best person to move to the other team to get the KDR balanced up. This will be totally randomized.

3. Keep the team sizes even as much as possible, though balance by KDR will override that.

 

Opinions? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Not sure if this would be possible, or even worth it, but...Sometimes it seems the team balancer screws up a lot when several new people come into the server and they have low scores and maybe get a kill or two while the other team has maybe chantz or blust racking up 40 bombs with 90 people in the server and all of a sudden it thinks those new people are fairly good, so people with higher kills on that team get switched to the opposing team, and boom, team stack...not sure if that made any sense but maybe someone can back me up on this? I feel I have seen it happen more than 2 times?

I haven't coded it yet. :P

 

and this will take the entire teams KDR into consideration. New people will have a relatively low impact on this since their individual kills/deaths will be low.

i think i can help u with the betting issue since i found it .... sry -.- i say that u can random/not show the time of the warm up so then the people don't know when to bet or not have the warm up all together thats just my opinon

Repetitive post was repetitive. I already know how to fix it, I just have to sit down and do it.

i dont think we need an rtv. thats my opinion... i feel that wed end up playing the same maps frequently... if were going to do that. then we might as well go back to map voting and not have a rotation.

It would require a supermajority vote to even start a mapvote and when the vote started it would be with random maps.

 

There will be no votemap rotation while I'm here.

what percentage of people are we talking?

 

im just worried about it turning into dust2 everytime people dont like a map... i mean its only 20 minutes for most of the maps... and 10 for a few.

 

also, for maps like italy, everyone whose a ct is just going to vote to change the map. may not be a bad thing, but id rather just take the maps off the rotation that people dont like and try to replace them with more even/fun maps.

It will(or at least I assume) be where if a map has been played recently, it will not get put on the vote...

I'd like to see the map vote option for admins again. Not being able to pick how many maps come up and being able to like refuse it, but putting the map situation in the hands of the public can sometimes go awry. Just my .02

 

oh and with the map vote for admins, i'd say you have to have your admin for a certain period of time before you can get this privilage and if you abuse it, it can be revoked and you either don't get it back or you never get it back. Again, my .02

Many good ideas being thrown around.

 

My original definition for this was like 60-75% required to start a votemap. Whatever I said is what it will be but I don't feel like hunting it down ATM.

 

Admins will have the option to start a votemap. IDK if they will have the ability to override it as that creates problems with admins voting until they get what they want, which ironically is not what I want. And no, new admins will not have the ability to do this, if restrictions are possible. I don't want to create too many tiers of admins but I'd like some of the more regular and experienced (IMO of course) admins to have a little more control over the server than brand new admins.

 

I think a good balance is 4-5 maps in the vote, picked randomly with the recent-play restriction Liam talked about. Maybe admin can start and execs can override, IDK how I want to work it yet.

Here was my outlook for it.

 

1. Make a new class for 'new' admins that has more restrictions.

2. Set it up so that 'standard' admins can start map votes. (Map votes will be 4-5 maps w/ recent restrictions)

3. Cancelling votes will be impossible for any non-exec admin.

4. Admins may not 'refuse' votes. If it wins the vote, the next map goes.

5. Only ONE map vote by the admins can be started per map. RTV will require about 80% to start.
