Oh Malley Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Honestly I think a general club flyer stating that we exist, have forums and website, and we have forums might boost our on-campus presence. That and maybe if we could just set up a table on a regular basis then maybe we'll see things pick up. Quote
Nickname Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Let's work together to better the situation and not point any fingers. This time lets make sure that if we elect someone for the Marketing Administrator position they FULLY understand the time requirements needed. Either way, come on exec's lets pull our weight to make sure that the club continues to prosper. You cannot blame me for the flyer situation this last time and everyone will say I did my job the best I could. Quote
Nalgenie Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 how bout to settle the flyer issue just blame me! cause I know certain people are thinking it right now. I did my best. So, how bout we move on and start thinking of advertising for future LANs. The past is the past, you can't change it. So please stop talking about how *edited*y advertising was this time Quote
tF Death Omen Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 I don't know about PCs, as I don't know how many or if any App state guys come down for our PC tourney's during the LAN. But lets not forget gentlemen that App State held their LAN on the exact same day. I know for a fact we usually have a number of guys come down from App for the Console tournaments, but because of the DATE, they remained up at App instead of paying for gas to drive all this way to compete in a tournament when they could compete in a sub-par one where they were at. As far as advertising I don't think we can point any fingers here, as it seems that we have been having problems with it for a while now, regardless of who is in charge of the situation, and with that being said it comes down to more of a fundamental issue as opposed to any one individual. Quote
MasterP Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 it seems that we have been having problems with it for a while now, regardless of who is in charge of the situation, and with that being said it comes down to more of a fundamental issue as opposed to any one individual. Did we just agree? Â Like I said after the last LAN, if we have to pay for the fliers DO IT. We have got to start advertising more and trying to get free stuff is obviously cripling our ability to do so. I'll repeat the example I gave before, if we pay $50 for advertising and bring in 20 extra people we just doubled our investment. Quote
Nalgenie Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 ok ok ok.... i get it... the free fliers idea did not work perfectly. But hey, we now have 2 new banners! That means we can now get way more fliers. We can easily get generic fliers to post around campus so that students know we exist, and we can also get fliers to advertise the LAN. It all works out! Quote
Cacophony Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I'll admit that it's not the date or any other inconvenience. I've simply lost interest in the majority of games being played. TF2 is usually the only game I have interest in PC side, but I didnt want to bring my computer to the UC for one tourney and then book it. Â maybe some people just don't like having to haul their computer? Just throwing out ideas because I don't feel like it is something we have been doing wrong, because we are doing the same thing that has been done since the beginning, Â Just saw this and wanted to comment. Bingo! It's pretty much my lack of interest, coupled with that fact that I'm not carrying my computer to the UC for one tourney. Â I wouldn't necessarily say you've done anything wrong. I just, personally, would like some more incentive. Maybe I need to try really lobbying for a new game or something... Quote
Ephraim Posted November 11, 2008 Author Report Posted November 11, 2008 Most of the PC games were first person shooters. Maybe an RTS or two would liven things up. The console tournies are organized as 2 shooters/2 fighters/2 misc. The PC tournies could be organized in a similar way. Quote
FTE Kaz-Ka Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I agree with Ephiram, the PC guys ought to try what us console people did, it allows for more variety in the games that are played and it could attract more attention to the PC side of the club. Quote
Bitey Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Everyone does realize that this all goes back to show up to the meetings and vote in the games you want to play, otherwise.... don't *edited*. Quote
FTE Kaz-Ka Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Speaking of meetings, when is the next one? Quote
Bitey Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Sometime next week as I am in Othello all this week.  Speaking of which, come see me in Othello!!!  Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 PM in Hoey and then Sunday at 3:00 PM in Hoey  Yay  /shameless advertisement Quote
Cacophony Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Everyone does realize that this all goes back to show up to the meetings and vote in the games you want to play, otherwise.... don't *edited*. Â I agree. I just didnt have a chance to get to the last meeting, which just so happened to be the one that involved voting in all the games. Quote
MajorMajorMajor Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 from what i have seen, there really isnt much variety in PC games. TF2, Source, UT2k4, mebbe 1,6. Â try to do a Left 4 Dead tourny, and like Ephraim said, do RA3 the new RTS out or any other RTS. I guess the do this for the January Lan instead of the Dec one, because then you can all ask your mama's to get the new games for you so u can play them @ the LAN and not have to pay for em. Â Â just tossin out ideas Quote
Lemm Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 would like there to be a way i can give input without driving 2 hours plz  how long these meetings last?.. u have to be a student at WCU? Quote
Nickname Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 would like there to be a way i can give input without driving 2 hours plz  how long these meetings last?.. u have to be a student at WCU? I will cover the meeting on IRC as I did last time. Be online during the IRC meeting and your input will be heard. Quote
Cacophony Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 I'm sure we can manage to have you via phone or IRC. Others have done that before. Â And no, you don't have to be a student. Liam isnt and look at the wonders he does for us. Quote
newrayz Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Hey I was just curious, when is the next one? Â Depending on when it is, I may be in that neck of the woods. Normally I wouldn't be able to make these, because i live in Houston, but I was planning a trip that way; might stop by to say HELLO Quote
Bitey Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Will be sometime next week... Â Right now I am looking at Thursday 8-10, nothing concrete yet though.. Quote
Rydell382 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 @ Major, this past time, we had a gunbound tournament that I really enjoyed, maybe this is something we can do again next time? Quote
Shingi Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Hey I was just curious, when is the next one? Depending on when it is, I may be in that neck of the woods. Normally I wouldn't be able to make these, because i live in Houston, but I was planning a trip that way; might stop by to say HELLO  Just so you aren't confused the next LAN is Dec 6. The meeting for the LAN is sometime next week. I wouldn't expect you to drive all the way out here for a meeting, lol. Quote
Bitey Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 If you cannot actually be present at the meeting the best way to attend is through IRC, we have been wanting to do it this way for sometime now and it seems that this may be the best policy. Quote
Oh Malley Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 @ Major, this past time, we had a gunbound tournament that I really enjoyed, maybe this is something we can do again next time? Â I would love to. I had more fun in that tournament than any other tournament. Bitey and I had an epic Grub-off battle. Quote
