FTE Kaz-Ka 0
Tell me what liked and disliked about the LAN. And do not be afraid to criticize me if you think I did something wrong, but do expect me to say something if I think you are wrong.
FelixNova 0
YOU ARE WRONG, MY KIND SIR. GOOD DAY. Overall, I was quite pleased with everything. Just a few notes: -Tournaments for TF2 and L4D were interrupted quite a few times by people joining the game, L4D more so than TF2. -Was there less pizza this time? -Having the XBox stand moved outside might not have been a good idea, not many people played on it. -HADOUKEN HADOUKEN HADOUKEN HADOUKEN HADOUKEN IM CHEAP *edited* AND BORING LOL. -You looked quite rushed the whole time, I would be happy to help more next time so you can actually enjoy the lan. Freezer 0
1.6 was not voted in at the meeting. as for the xbox stand being outside it brought in atlest 10-15 people who paid .... so overall it made us $50-75. no there was not less pizza there were 105 people. Oh Malley 0
I asked the guys (Freezer and Tallgeese) how things went for them since they were in charge of running the 360 stuff in my stead. I heard everything went okay overall; however, they told me a lot of things that went very poorly. I won't go into detail here, but I will bring it up at the meeting, or will discuss it over AIM/IRC/etc.
Phonetically Phamous (dice 0
I really really enjoyed this lan 10x better than the past handful. PC side was ran well, minor hiccups but were solved promptly. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves during the event. Ideas that could be improved PC side, think we are going to burn DVD's of all the game files and get ppl to load them as they walk in the door. this was the #1 reason for our holdups. but we have an easy fix. that Xbox stand (if we get it again) maybe could place it on the 1st floor UC in front of the steps with our banner above it, or flyers, or a sign saying come to the 3ed floor.. lol. Never have nuff food/drink (thou this time we did have nuff drinks, and thanks for the water, just the right amount) maybe have rockband not in the center of the room? kinda a traffic probelm and noisy (even thou i herd zero complaints about it myself) and really not much more, you guys stepped up bigtime and i was more than impressed. pat yourselves on the back you deserve it. MasterP 0
PC side has a number of improvements to make but none of them should be very hard. Game deployment is killing us right now and we should be able to fix that at the next LAN with game transfer dvds.
Adam Faulkner 0
the pc stuff has been really perfected over the years. We just needed to do a little more testing before we went to the lan. The consoles however have alot more planning to do. I would actually like to see the lans start earlier and finish earlier or something. I would like us to have some padding for finishing. I hate that people were getting kicked out at the end of the lan and I was running around picking up trash. Very uncool. The only real issue i had with the entire lan was we needed to advertise it more. We need to start pulling our friends to the lans or something. Also my signup was a fail. Almost none of the console people signed up for it because they dont know our website or are not involved with the community. But I do agree with dice it was a really good lan and a lan turnout. I think this is a general club fail for not bothering to actually bothering to reach out to all these LAN attendees that show up and getting them involved in the community. Eyce 0
Most of my concerns have been expressed already, but I'll make a short list. + The 360 stand being put outside was a good idea, but the suggestion of having it down on 1st is even better. + We got plenty of drinks this time, but the snacks went quickly. The spending ratio just needs to be tweaked. + The layout of the room was great without the stage being there. Only Rock Band's location was a minor inconvenience (we likely would have had Rock Band on the other projector if it wasn't "broken"). - General communication between execs needs to improve. - We need to leave the microphone in one place, so everyone who needs to make an announcement can. - Going dual console for the fighting games turned out to be mostly an inconvenience(time-wise especially). - Door prize announcements need to be more organized, at the end it was just people grabbing leftover shirts. I'll think of more at the meeting on Thursday.

If it was about 50/50 on console preference, I doubt it would've been as bad. Instead, it was 25/75, so it may be wise to move those games to PS3 only. The benefit of this is that there's plenty of free play time on the 360 now which is a good thing.
Kuros 0
Why is that your fail? I think this is a general club fail for not bothering to actually bothering to reach out to all these LAN attendees that show up and getting them involved in the community. Have a laptop and make them register as they come in. If we have this resource available and someone brings a printer it could potentially make organization a hell of a lot easier. Kuros 0
Live and learn and most importantly ask past executives before you screw something up. Oh Malley should be the go to guy in consoles. Same with Trebushae (assuming she's still around).
Oh Malley 0
I see her on campus a lot. Along with Cacophony. Granted, I think they've shown up to 1 LAN in the past year, I think. Anyways.. yeah. I am the go-to guy. lol. This upcoming LAN will be my last as an exec and I'm sure any future execs will need my help or could at least use my advice. Phonetically Phamous (dice 0
We advertised this LAN like mad. That's why we had 30 more attendees this time than last time. I walked around campus/dorms/community buildings looking for a flyer and could not locate even one. The first one i saw was teh Pink dan one that was at the sign in table. so it could be better. however as you said, numbers dont lie, 30 new ppl so alot was done right,, could still be improved just a little Internet wise it was advertised out the *edited* Forum emails, collige links emails, fbook, steam community, and the forums. If we get the consul members to sign up for the event at the door, they will also get emails about community events we send out. fun nights, mini lans, meetings, lan's, cookout, exc's an easy and the most effected way to communicate with the community that is afraid of the internet aka our forums

I asked the winner of the Soulcalibur tournament why he came to the LAN. He said he saw a flier with Street Fighter and Soul Calibur on it. Marketing was fine.
Phonetically Phamous (dice 0
I was only stating that I went out looking for fliers Friday night and i did not see any. I spent a half hour walking around. Maybe they got taken down early, idk. maybe the club will think about the napkin dispensers ad's nearly all on campus students should see them. Also i think the majority of the advertisement should be geared towards the freshmen. just something to think about
AMerrill 0
I to agree needed more advertising (increase that budget?) and earlier advertising. Even if 2 or 3 rounds of "flyer hanging" needs to be done. Def did love the xbox display but having it in a higher traffic area is a great idea, especially being secluded upstairs. Also, maybe something that the spectators can do? I saw a lot of gfriends not looking to happy. Edited March 24, 2009 by AMerrill
ExiLe 0
honestly i was skeptic about this LAN since there really not many games i wanted to play and i was kinda mad that resistance, goldeneye and NCAA were voted in, which was b/c no one showed up to vote. I honestly didnt think those were right for the LAN and it turned out i was right, but atleast now ppl know. Though when i showed up i had a blast. I met so many knew ppl and a few i already knew that i had no idea played video games like that. Was real cool! here are my ratings. + there were a whole lot of new people there + advertising had gotten alot better + Street Fighter was a great addition to the LAN + thought the new execs did a good first job - I saw the ps3 leader cuss out the Console VP, which was very un proffesional on the clubs part (well his). If the VP says to do something that console leader should listen. - One game shouldnt be played on both consoles it was very ineffecient - Games need to be voted in that will draw more people, not games only a few ppl think will be fun - More Pizza! - Better Organization with the schedule Lets make the next LAN even better! tF Death Omen 0
Despite the rather large turnout and the fact that a lot of my close friends showed up (which meant a lot to me personally considering some of the family things I'm dealing with right now), I was generally unhappy with how some of things were run. I personally ran the NCAA 09 tourney, which I was happy to play in, but at the same time it was probably the worst time of the year to play it considering most sports gamers minds are on Basketball and Baseball seasons, thus why I thought there was a rather small turn out. Gears, though not officially voted in, got shafted at the end of the night, and as a result there were a lot of hot tempers that went off in the process. Resistance 2 and 007 were very poor game choices, which was exactly as I had suspected back when I heard they were chosen in the first place. And to be all honest, despite the fact that I had fun hanging out with my friends, unless things change with the game choices, and peoples mentalities and attitudes regarding said choices, this past LAN will probably be the last one I attend here at Western.
