Recommended Posts

http://kotaku.com/5277695/watch-the-psp-go...ne=true&s=i

Video showing off the new hand held

The new psp is 40% lighter than the 3000 modle (half the mass of a DS)

built in 16GB HDD

Memory stick slot

UMDless (all games must be downloaded from the PSN)

bluetooth

only $250 (Cheap considering the 16GB internal memory)

Thats all i know so far

I saw this. More details: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/05...tailed-real.ars

My issues is I see no reason for me to upgrade from my PSP Slim (2000) to this. If I buy a larger memory card can't I have basically the same experience?

Yea prob. but its cool...but im curious why they added bluetooth...i bet you it has hidden potential that hasnt been unveiled yet

I would think the bluetooth is for wireless headphones and also headsets to be used with skype and maybe online multiplayer games?

Just speculation.

well when i asked what bluetooth would be used for I ment it as a sarcastic retorical question lol I assumed you could figure that out. But now it would make it nothing short of a phone

sony is putting together alot of new companies to develop new games. also the fact that people hacked and stole psp games keep develpers away from making really good games or alot of games for that matter. Supposedly to home brews extent it is unhackable like the ps3. Now since you have to buy games maybe they will make more and better games.

Easy to steal doesn't stop the DS from having a crapton of games. Almost none are any good but there are a lot of them.

I predict going entirely software will cripple the PSP game market once people figure out how to mimic sony's server.

The biggest problem is that no current PSP owner will want a PSP Go... cause they can't play the games they already have on it!

I don't want a PSP that I can't play Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X on...

The new PSP Go is obviously marketed towards people who don't already own a PSP, are tech-savvy enough to buy and download all their games from PSN, but somehow don't know about the PSP's huge hacking scene for 1000's/2000's...

Who was going to buy this again? Or at least, where will Sony's profit come from I wonder.

Also, *edited* yeah Maverick Hunter X.

Or at least, where will Sony's profit come from I wonder.

If Sony cared about turning a profit they wouldn't have made the PS3.

The real question is whether or not the investors will tolerate another colossal financial disaster like the PS3 was because from what I heard the stockholders were less than thrilled with the prospect of losing money on every sale, like lots of money.

you know I would agree with this if i knew anyone who mimmic'd steam and got away with it anymore

ps. i used to run cracked version of css when it first came out.. could run on all steam public games but got tired of downloading updates for it

ALSO though... 16 GB is TINY if you have to download all your games.. .it sounds like they're trying to compete with ipod touch in the game market (yeah I know ... what market)

Any internal memory will be too small for real games. If they think they can get away with 16GB I hope they hire someone with a clue between now and release date.

PSP games are only in the 500-700 mb range. At least God Of War: CoO was...and the GTA stories games. Those were MASSIVE games in open world goodness.

I'll stick with my God Of War edition red psp slim. kthx.

is it just me or does the new psp go look really bad compared to the older psp? although the new psp is thinner and lighter, the old psp looked sleek and more suited for older people. the new one looks like a nintendo handheld. why buy a psp go when you could just pony up a little bit more money and get the new ps3 slim?

no its just u...If you would look at the diffrence in features its more suited to the older demographic...its smaller so it can fit in pocket, built in memory for music and downloadable only so i dont have to lug umds, button layout is more comfortable, etc...If you need more reasons just ask i will list more...Also i hate to say it but i hope homebrew cant hack it because when people hackit the game developers wont make games for it if everyone is stealing their games

You also need to remeber...THE PSP GO IS NOT THE PSP SLIMS REPLACEMENT...it is simply another hardware option for consumers...they designed another one just to make the majority of psp gamers happy..and the majority listen to music on it and they dont like the size of the slim and they dont like luging umds... they are gonna continue support and production of psp slim and psp go

Just sucks since they said they were going to make it somehow compatiable with older PSP games, such as download codes etc, in a press release.. and then said in a later that they weren't.

IMHO its a complete waste of money compared to the psp slim... at least if you already have a psp. I can buy a large memory card for mine and voila! I can store lots of games just like the go.

my psp from 4 years ago still works great - i see no reason to update now

imma wait another generation

you guys seem to miss the point...all it does is give consumers a second option because each one is better for diffrent users...Not only that it doubles as an experiment on how successful a completely digital gaming device would be
