adam37 Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Anybody tried a drivekey? http://www.drivekey.com/en/ solderless soulution...fits between the DVD drive and the main system Quote
MasterP Posted October 17, 2010 Author Report Posted October 17, 2010 Solderless modchips have been out for a while and nintendo regularly changes DVD formatting to try to break them. I would check message boards and site reviews before shelling out $40-80 on a modchip. The best solution is to softmod but that carries its own risks as well. When did you get your Wii? Quote
adam37 Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 probably about a year ago or so? I bought it from someone else though who had it longer..its got the 4.3U firmware though Quote
MasterP Posted October 17, 2010 Author Report Posted October 17, 2010 Having the 4.3U OS doesn't necessarily mean anything in regards to softmodding capability. The real limitation is in whether or not your Wii is one of the newer batches that have hardware limits. Even with 4.3U, if you have an older version you can simply downgrade to 4.1 or 4.2 and then carry on like normal but the newer models brick when you downgrade them. Check your serial number. What are the first 2 numbers after LU? Quote

MasterP Posted October 17, 2010 Author Report Posted October 17, 2010 LU62 You should be good on all softmods. Before installing ANY software or hardware mods, install bootmii. If you have the firmware version of bootmii you can very easily recover from bricks. Quote
MasterP Posted October 17, 2010 Author Report Posted October 17, 2010 http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_setup That will get you started. You'll have to use Smash Stack or Indian Pwns on 4.3U. Also, poke around that wiki. Lots of good reading. Quote
