He does because I've given him CL access with it. Beyond that idk what he's been doing. I haven't had any requests for help or training from him.

Or politely ask him to start being active in the club. He's an officer, he needs to at least be active on the forums.

The same could be said with all the new on-campus PC execs. Tbh I haven't seen any of them in any of the servers and it's getting to be a little disheartening. So much trash is talked about how the old group doesn't represent the club anymore yet we're the only ones still being active on a daily/weekly/sofarthisyear basis.

this kind of reminds me of some one from before just wasting a spot they never really wanted but just wanted to be something in the club.

It's not a problem Kaz-ka but we have the capacity to get a somewhat decent server going and there's plenty of experienced admins and server ops around for him to learn from.

If nothing else this would be a great learning opportunity for him to learn how servers work and to play around with a professionally hosted one at the club's expense.

He wasnt here today but from what I heard from his girlfriend Kelly, there was some kind of mixup at gamestop and he long story short, his game didnt work. He's getting a replacement and should be on soon.

The only thing he needs to play TF2 is a CD key. When you activate the CD key it starts downloading the game from the Steam server.

It's not like the DVD being bad would actually prevent gameplay.

I've been thinking the last few days about the state of the PC side, and I'm really starting to get dissapointed that the TF2 CL and PC Vice President are barely on the forums. For that matter, few execs are all that involved in the revitalization of the servers. This should be addressed, maybe at Thursday's meeting.

Posted

It should be, and probably will be, discussed but that won't mean things get done.

If this continues into next semester there will be some serious talk about the entire PC side being taken away from you students by alumni due to extreme lack of caring. Being a CL is NOT hard, hell Lemm doesn't even have broadband and he's doing the best job right now. Being PC VP is pretty hard but I'm doing all the everyday work anyway so the current position filler should have an easy time doing the rest, but I'd bet a paycheck he isn't.

And until Kaz-ka gets off his lazy *edited* and meets with Keith Corzine to get us a new server the PC side will continue to be bottlenecked at where we are right now. It's look more and more like the only way for us to get a new server is for me to drive 5 hours back to campus and meet with Keith.

I imagine sometime in the next week or so someone is going to magically get a PM that has the FTP, rcon, and firedaemon logins to the TF2 server. I'd love for the PC VP to deal with this but I love the club more than I'm afraid of being punished for overstepping my authority.

Posted

And I will start dealing with these problems. As to why I haven't been on, Well two occurring problems and one recent. Morris Broadband has been *edited*ing up my internet since i live just off campus. As previously stated, I live off campus and have to use my Financial Aid to pay for rent. CiTiAssist has continually held back my loan and has stopped my refund check until further notice. The school understands but my Landlord has me working for him to pay for this. Over the last 5 days, I had the flu so I couldn't deal with any of this.

Now, as per the case with Nathan Golder. I am talking with him now and going to convince him to drop the CL since he is not the most dependable person and we have given enough chances to redeem him of this name. I recommend you guys tell me a good TF2 person to replace him.

Me lazy? AHAHAHAHAHA what a *edited*ing joke. Im sorry there are more presing matters at hand right now than me talking to Keith about getting the new server you seem to want so much. You act as if this new server is going to be the saving grace of the PC side of club but you dont know that it will. From what the poll suggested, all you guys seem to want is more of the same stuff and how the hell is that going to help?

This isnt to say that I'm not going to do this because I will, but only after Im done handling our LAN stuff.

And as far as the whole lazy thing goes, think again. Ive been trying to find us a new Advisor since school started and no one seemed to want to do it (unitl today, I got Casey Carter to do it for us). I couldnt get in touch with EITHER of the other two. Why is this so important you might ask? Well SGA has enacted this new policy to where you have to get the club advisors signiture to pretty much do anything (like reservering the grand room, trying to get purchase orders and putting up fliers). Advertising for the LAN has always been a main focus of mine and therefore that is more of a prioity to me than the new server. But not only that, Ive been talking to Bring It's campus rep about sponsering us at the upcoming LAN (which they are) and Im finally going to get the oppertunity to follow up with Papa's about another sponsership deal. Ive also been overseeing the rule formation for our tournaments and have been following through with SGA on the Grand Room amoung other things. So dont you DARE say that I have been lazy, I bust my *edited* for this club all the time and have sacrificed many hours for this club and I would happily do it all again.

The PC side is dying and you just posted that you don't care. Great to know. The largest hinderence to the PC side right now is server capacity. We are starting to really attract players in NC, players that might come to a LAN, and i'd be nice if were weren't bottlenecked. Probably doesn't matter though because they all want to play CS/CSS...

Almost 4 weeks ago I virtually set you up a meeting, told you when he was open, found the time that you were both open, and all but called him and asked for it to happen. If you had no intention of doing it why did you even bother giving the impression you cared? All you had to of said was that you didn't care and I'd have moved on to another form of contacting him. When you tell someone you're going to do something and then a month later say you never had any intention and that you don't care it does *edited* them off. Just take an hour out of your "busy" schedule and go meet with him.

Btw, until you have 21 hours of classes, 2 senior projects, an exec position, an CL position, are a head admin for another server, and are working 20 hours a week you don't have the right to use the "I'm too busy" excuse. I was too busy and *edited* still got done.

If you're having trouble with the advisors TELL SOMEONE. The alumni know enough people on campus to get you a new advisor virtually overnight, all you have to do is ask. Btw, if you drop Stephen as the staff advisor you better include a bunch of switches in the budget because you probably won't be getting them anymore, you'll probably also lose XBOX Live access as well.

It's nice to know you're getting console sponsorships, where are with the PC sponsorships? Nothing has been said and that gives the impression nothing is being done.

With the dropped purchasing requirements, why are we even bothering for a sponsorship for pizza? Unless there's more that hasn't been said it should be as easy as tossing in a purchase order.

About rules, when can we expect them for the PC side? Oddly enough this very thread is about tossing out an inactive student CL, obviously the rules for TF2 haven't been made...

You know none of this is personal Kaz-ka but with the giant rant you gave at the beginning of the semester about how you wanted to rebuild and revitalize the PC section those of us actually in the PC section were expecting a little more than "I have better things to do than get you a new server to expand on." It's disheartening. They'll ALWAYS be another LAN or another meeting, always something else to do but this process takes months to enact and the longer you wait the longer the PC side sits there not getting anywhere.

Btw, why is that when I was on campus you were always game for everything and now that I'm 200 miles away all you do is trash my ideas and play down the same suggestions you previously agreed with? Almost makes me think if I came back to campus you might start agreeing with me again...

...there's an idea...

Well for one Mitch, tell me where exactly it was that I said that I didn't care about the PC side of the club. All I said was that the games suggested for the new server were pretty much the same games you guys are playing now, and its true. I didnt say I didnt want to support the PC side of the club, I do and I want to try to revitalize it. But I cant do this *edited* on my own, I need help.

And as far as CLs go, like I have said many a time before, I practically had to beg everyone at the meeting to take the positions open for the PC side of the club. Hell I even posted a thread on here a week or 2 before the meeting started and still, with the exception of like one or two people, practically nothing.

As far as the Advisers go, Im just letting go of Ronny, he told me he didnt want to do it anymore. I wanted to find someone on campus who I see a lot and Carter is one of these people.

About Keith. I know you practically set up the meeting for me to talk to him but for the past couple of weeks, but I have been busy with classes and such. Now you can sit there and say whatever you want about however many hours your taking, all the stuff your doing, but frankly I dont care. Ive been busy with classes (which is more important than this club to me, priorities, I have to make good grades to keep my financial aid) and gaming club stuff on top of having to take Kelley to doctors appointments because she keeps having seizures for some reason. So about Keith, Ill get to him when I can, my priorites are line, this club is not going to be my life. If you think i should only care about this club and ONLY this club, vote to remove me from office.

And you say I agreed with you all the time when you were here? ROTFL! This coming from the guy who told me Soul Calibur IV would be a bad game to replace Mario Kart Wii because Mario Kart Wii had better sells. LOL. I've tried to go through with some of the things you have suggested but sometimes, it does not work out or isnt very popular among the majority of people that show up to the meetings. But Mitch, I've always given it to you straight, whether it be on these forums or in person. You on the other hand never brought things up in person that you didnt like, but instead waited to get on the forums and complain about it. So yea, if you want to come up here and talk to me about this because you think it will make me see things your way, be my guest, I live in Central C Hall 126 B.
