As a lot of you might have heard about the Chinese kid who got stabbed in the head during a game of CS. The Chinese government has recently responded to the event by releasing a statement about how they intend to ban first person shooter games in the country due to them seemingly promoting violence.

I'm shocked that the Chinese Government would do that considering the localized nature of the stabbing. The government has more issues at the moment especially with the 21 babies and fetuses that just washed ashore, and this event really did not seem to stem much negative political reaction from outside the country, so naturally why would they do anything to "fix" it.

 

The video does seem to bring up the good point that this would severely hinder the WoW market as the majority of the users are in China.

 

Where is the line drawn, Fictional Violence or Realistic Violence? Guess you can ban Mario for jumping on people's heads and destroying turtles.

I doubt China would ban WoW. The Chinese government would rather not kill the gold farming industry.

The video said the Chinese were considering it. I agree it doesn't make financial sense, but your article stated as much.

 

 

I also read that the Koreans were banning Starcraft and Starcraft 2 due to this image and how it is a negative influence on children and public health.
