Needs moar restrictions when it comes to GIF size

in signatures and Avatars, I don't like when I come

into a thread and I can't even scroll down the page

because someone big *edited* GIF in their avatar or

signature *edited* blocks me all the way down.

Restrict it to something reasonable, or even better

just don't allow GIFs...

First off being more or less one of these ppl u say *edited* blocks ure view of this site

I think ure wrong and that these threads actually do take care of gif/Ava/sig sizes

very well

I do see the issues with maybe having too much but a simple ask and I could size down my sigs

 

and to be real if u ran into a site with no life and color

just plain text some other life-less user writing words

would u stay long enough to remember we are talkin about having fun

or would u just leave ?

Rits, I meant size as in file size and GIFs like your avatar that moves... Big signature pictures don't bother me although I know they bother some... Big GIFs lag my screen when I scroll past them because my browser is trying to load them and there is too much to load. Of course I don't want text, but GIFs in general annoy me it is too much of a distraction on the screen and I never have issues when it is just pictures, if I ever find a big *edited* Bitey GIF I will be sure to put it on so that it lags the hell out of everyone else's browser lol

If you go to My Settings>>Forums>>3rd Box allows you to disable all avatars. I used to have it set to this just because everyone had a gif at one point and trolling went from 0.005 seconds a page to 10 seconds. I'm not even sure if there is a way to limit the size of the file in the forums themselves, that would be a question for Liam. Hopefully he sees this whenever he is back from his vacation.

 

 

And ignore Rits. She is evil. I think there are already limits for sig/avatar already and they seem generally reasonable. I used to have the pic below as my sig until i was scolded. Let's see what the forums gurus (liam, raven, and adam) think can be done. For now I would just disable it in settings until another resolution is reached.

I _HATE_ moving gif's in the signatures and the avatars. They lag the crap out of my screen because 90% of the time I am working remotely.

 

I'll check and see if we can make it non-gif's for the avatars and gifs.

 

Also, there is a file size limitation and thats already enforced.
