Nickname Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 So some of you might have noticed that I.... well... haven't been playing a whole lot of video games lately. The reason is I have been getting my game fix from board games. Euro games, to be exact. I'm not talking about Monopoly here, but real games that actually require skill and strategy. If you are ever interested, check out boardgamegeek.com. The best games are the ones rated at the top, but specifically I recommend Dominion, Pandemic, Agricola, Carcassonne, Power Grid, 1960: The Making of the President, and Race for the Galaxy. Those are pretty *edited* good games. I am also starting to join some local strategy gaming groups here in the triangle; one that meets every tuesday night in cary and one that meets every 3rd friday of the month in Durham. If anyone is in the area and wants to join up, let me know, or I would also be more than willing to teach these games if anyone wants. Quote

Lemm Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 I'll play you at Touring... Used to play grandma every Friday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touring_(card_game) Quote
Nickname Posted March 22, 2011 Author Report Posted March 22, 2011 I'll play you at Touring... Used to play grandma every Friday. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touring_(card_game) interesting.... It is widely believed the popular French card game Mille Bornes was derived from Touring. After several revisions, Touring was discontinued shortly after Parker Brothers picked up the American license of Mille Bornes. I own Mille Bornes.... Quote
Nickname Posted March 24, 2011 Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 Just got in a few new games I ordered: Carcassonne Big Box 3 (base game + 5 expansions) 1960: Making of the President Leonardo Da Vinci Lost Cities Anyone looking for the best board game prices to order online would be wise to check out www.coolstuffinc.com as their prices are very good, almost always better than amazon, and they provide free shipping for orders > $100. Also, I just tried Galaxy Truckers for the first time this past Tuesday... that is a pretty awesome game; it may end up on my list of games to purchase. Quote
