Then it just hit me like a wave. If Calvin ended up marrying Susie Derkins, then it is most likely that he'll be living with a severely low self-esteem and that he might still be turning to Hobbes as a form of escape. It won't be until he has a child of his own when he's forced into a position in which he must choose to gain confidence or fall into a deep depression. If he does grow a set of balls, then it's very probable that he'll physically hand his first born the stuffed tiger (Hobbes), signifying the beginning of adulthood.
