Ashley Faulkner Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 The ones Adam, Adam, myself, David, and Loot placed were still largely up well after the LANs had taken placed. (back in the day of course, about 1 year ago)..maybe you guys didn't use enough tape or something. Now you guys are just coming up with excuses. David Griffith could be DG... Quote
Bitey Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Ok just to put blame where it is rightly due, it is definitely my fault the fliers did not go out sooner, I picked them up Friday afternoon 4:30, but they stayed in my room until Trackpad came and got them. So the reason they went out later was my fault, I guess. Quote
Cacophony Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Now you guys are just coming up with excuses. Or their just getting ripped down. Which I am 100% sure that is the case in most of the missing fliers we placed on entryways and outside. Just because it may not have happened before, doesnt mean it can't ever happen. Especially since we used some pretty heavy duty tape... Quote

Ashley Faulkner Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Let's not forget Dices' work load this semester....he is one busy man. Quote
Ephraim Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I've seen three around Leatherwood. One was torn down though. Quote
lootool Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 me and Dicedizzle rocked the flyer mobbing around campus..we threw one flyer up that stayed for half a year..the duct tape stayed on that pole for a year...Loot. Quote
Phonetically Phamous (dice Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 I called you about going with me to get drinks but you didn't answer i never got a message idk when you call, but for anyone else fill free to call but if i dont have a number loged in my book, i dont pickup unless i'm expecting a random number.... as most people do the same,, just general basic phone etiquette i guess Quote
Ashley Faulkner Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I remimber that one, it was infront of dodson wasn't it...remimber the one that we put so high up that we had to jump to get it up there on the pole beside Cyber and Leatherwood. Fun times. Quote
Falcon Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I went around and had just enough for building interiors, or more specifically just enough for lobbies and benton. You have my word, I stuck one next to every entrance/exit/stairwell door i could find in benton. everywhere else the RA's were a pain in the *edited* about me going around, so I have to trust that the fliers I handed to them got adequately distributed. Credit to the Central RA, they were there when I went to class today. ah, and I ran out before I could get to Robertson this is the stuff that gets noticed,,, gotta think outside the box... i think everyone on campus saw teh fliers loot and i hung the past few events... maybe we just have good flier hanging skills, idk..? absolutely true and the banner, I do want to find this. I believe it's hunting time... Quote
Nickname Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I have yet to see any fliers, though I haven't been looking for them. Of course, this will be the typical case for people that don't already know about the lan. Also remember I don't live on campus, so I would never see fliers in dorms, only academic buildings, where EVERYONE has to go at some point (at least theoretically lol) As a side note, my freshman year I remember there being flyers EVERYWHERE, this is how I found out about the club so I am a big fan of the flyers to help recruit new people. Quote
Ashley Faulkner Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Your welcome Nickname as it was probably Dice, Loot, Adam and Me that put those fliers everywhere! See flyers put in the right places do get noticed. I suggested earlier that if the flyers aren't being properly put up in the dorms then they be put up instead around the colleges. Quote
MasterP Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Now you guys are just coming up with excuses. That's not helping the situation. See flyers put in the right places do get noticed. I suggested earlier that if the flyers aren't being properly put up in the dorms then they be put up instead around the colleges. You know most people live on campus so putting them in dorms is a guarantee that they'll be seen. You have to put up many more if you want to spam the academic buildings and you still won't get as many views. If you put them on all the entrances to the dorms you're guaranteed to get tons of views. Also, keep in mind that the RA staff is different than it was when you were here and they have since created policies against posting in public spaces. They got *edited*ed at us for putting up ITS job application advertisements in the dorms and most of the ones I put up were gone within 24 hours. Something about a "fire hazard". It's not ALWAYS the current administration's fault. Quote
AMerrill Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Even though it may be policy and they may take them down...go ahead and place them. Atleast they will be seen until they are pulled. You can never have too many flyers. Quote
MasterP Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 No arguement with that here. As soon as they took my adverts down I put them right back up. The problem is that some RAs take their job WAY too seriously and are nit-picky about everything. Of course, those same RAs will let the beer party go until 4am without a comment made. I think the only hinderance with spamming them everywhere is that we are fairly limited on how many copies we get (can't remember how many). We can go out of our way and buy a crap-ton more copies next time but in reality we shouldn't have to. Quote
Ashley Faulkner Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 From what it sounds like, not that much has changed from last December when Adam and I graduated...only the sign at the light. RA's have had that policy for a long time now, that you have to go through them. And It's not hard to place a flyer or two at the entrances to the colleges as ALL students go there versus only some that go to the dorms. If we have eye-catching flyers they will be noticed. We used to get 75-100 flyers and people noticed them when I was there. I'm just saying that if you can't get RA's to put up your flyers (so we are essentially just throwing those away) why not put them up instead in the colleges, the UC, the Mailroom, Dodson, Library, etc. Places where all students are sure to go at one point every day. I'm not blaming anyone for the lack of flyers still being up, it happens. Though if that banner isn't up, yeah well there are just no excuses for that one. I just hope you guys learn which places work and which places don't so that in the future we can maximize exposure with the least amount of flyers, thus costing Residential Living less money as they are the ones paying for it. Quote
Phonetically Phamous (dice Posted September 21, 2007 Author Report Posted September 21, 2007 also last lan banner never got re stickered... and 3 lans back RES.LIV said they would print us a new full color banner so that we would have 2 now.... Well thats been a year ago... Agreeed, handing flyers to RA's maby only 01% of those get hung if any... of the 150 we get printed 50-75% of them need to be in the UC/Dotson "Central Campus" but i like the mail box idea better. 100% student coverage "on campus" and theya re the one that really matter hence our mission Quote
Kuros Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 We could also have people handing them out at Walmart and stuff. I may have gotten us a good deal on an extra 500 flyers. Quote
Bitey Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 We could also consider asking Nexus and E2cafe if we could advertise at their place. Quote
Phonetically Phamous (dice Posted September 21, 2007 Author Report Posted September 21, 2007 We could also consider asking Nexus and E2cafe if we could advertise at their place. love it Quote
Ashley Faulkner Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 We do know that we have to go down to the printshop and request the new banner correct? Yes Reslife will pay for it but the printshop handles that, we just go in give them the designs and they print it up for us. So we can't push off why we haven't gotten another banner yet on ResLife, it would be our fault. Quote
Phonetically Phamous (dice Posted September 21, 2007 Author Report Posted September 21, 2007 yet to be a design is the problamo for the "new" banner stickering the old one... well.... Quote
Ashley Faulkner Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 finishing dice's sentence ...is just pure laziness on our part. The M.A. should have handled that, even if one stepped down, he should have handled that one. Quote
Falcon Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 I handed it off last meeting. I can't sticker something I don't posess. Quote
